In these 25 years, the Martorell factory has produced 10 million vehicles

A great piece of information came to us last week. The Seat factory in Martorell , which in this present 2018 celebrates its 25th anniversary, produced the vehicle number 10 million . The unit 10 million output from the factory corresponds to a Seat Arona in FR finish, in desire red and midnight black termination, and with the 1.5 TSI petrol engine.

Beyond the concrete vehicle that has had the honor of being number 10 million, it should be noted that in this quarter century no less than 39 different models have been manufactured. Among them, the second generation of the Seat Ibiza and the first Seat Córdoba. Models of other brands have also been produced, such as the Audi A1 or Q3.

Thanks to the continuous investment in technology and a highly qualified human team, the plant has improved year after year the quality of the products and processes, until getting to become what it is today: the factory that produces more cars in Spain and a reference of Industry 4.0 and digitization ".

This Martorell plant was inaugurated in 1993 , moving Seat's production in the Free Trade Zone after 40 years. The investment for the creation of the Martorell factory was 244,500 million pesetas, which came to be 1,470 million euros . Obviously, in these 25 years the factory has changed considerably, adapting to the new times, improving its production capacity and surpassing the requirements that today we demand from vehicles.

To give an example, it currently has 2,000 robots to assemble the more than 3,000 pieces that make up each vehicle. Together with the workers of the factory, they produce nothing less than 2,400 cars a day , or what is the same, a vehicle every less than 30 seconds.

Currently, for the digitization of the company, the new projects and the development of the Seat Tarraco, are more than 12,500 operators in Martorell adding the people in the production lines and the workers in the Seat Technical Center. Only in this 2018 have joined the company more than 500 workers with permanent contracts, which is always great news.
